Metro Credit Union

Robert Cashman is President and CEO of Metro Credit Union since 1998. Founded in 1926, Metro is the largest state charted credit union in Massachusetts. Mr. Cashman has been affiliated with Metro since 1983 when he graduated from Boston University, School of Management. In his career at Metro, he has led multiple departments within the credit union, including marketing and lending before becoming Executive Vice President in 1995 and Chief Executive Officer in 1998. During his tenure as CEO, Metro has grown from $316 million to over $3.4 billion.

Over the years, Mr. Cashman has served on various state credit union trade association Boards including the Cooperative Credit Union Association and Massachusetts Credit Union League and was a member of the Legislative Committee, Political Action Committee, Convention Committee, Audit Committee and Advocacy Committee. Active at that national level, Mr. Cashman is on the Board of the National Credit Union Foundation where he is also Treasurer and is a former Board Member of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Board, the national trade association for over 5,000 credit unions across the country. Mr. Cashman is also a member of New England Automated Clearinghouse Association’s Board (NEACH) where he works with other financial services industry leaders focusing on payment systems. Mr. Cashman’s most notable civic affiliation is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
