Metro Credit Union

CHELSEA, MA, June 13, 2022 – Metro Credit Union, Massachusetts’ largest state-charted credit union, today announced that 11 students have received a scholarship to continue their educational endeavors into college and beyond. Metro provides ongoing resources for local high school students to improve their financial literacy, while granting opportunities for exceptional students to receive funds to use toward college expenses.

Each year, Metro encourages high school seniors who are members of Metro Credit Union, or who have a parent or guardian who is a member, to apply for the chance to receive $1,000 towards their college tuition. Students are eligible to apply if planning to enroll for the first time in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the upcoming academic year.

This year, 11 scholarship recipients were selected based on academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unique personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. In addition to providing educational opportunities for high school students, Metro remains committed to making financial education accessible for everyone. The Financial Wellness and Education Center at MetroCU.org is an online interactive program powered in partnership with financial education company EverFi, which helps people of all ages manage money today and prepare for a secure financial future. Metro also offers first-time homebuyer and investment seminars, plus free education and guidance all year round to its members.
