Metro Credit Union Donates $5,000 to The One Chelsea Fund
Metro Credit Union, Massachusetts’ largest state-chartered credit union, today announced that it has donated $5,000 to the One Chelsea Fund to support families and individuals financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The City of Chelsea, home to Metro’s corporate headquarters, has the highest incidence rate of COVID-19 cases in the state. City and community leaders from non-profit organizations The Chelsea Collaborative, GreenRoots, and The Neighborhood Developers are in the process of distributing the funds to residents in need of financial support.
“Metro has been – and will always be – in the business of helping other people,” said Robert Cashman, CEO and president. “As we grapple with the tragedy unfolding all around us, it’s important to us that members of our community have the financial resources they need to help survive these challenging times.”
Metro has demonstrated continued support for Chelsea and its residents in the past, donating more than $45,000 to Chelsea organizations in 2019.
“We are honored to have the steadfast support of Metro Credit Union, especially at this time when our neighbors are facing unprecedented hardship,” said Gladys Vega, Executive Director, the Chelsea Collaborative. “Metro’s donation will go to the One Chelsea Fund for our emergency response efforts, and will go a long way to ensure our community is fed, housed, and receives the information they need to recover from this devastating virus."
