Retired Metro CEO & President Inducted into Hall of Fame

CHELSEA, MASS. – October 17, 2023 – Metro Credit Union, the largest state-chartered credit union in Massachusetts, today announced that former CEO and Board Chairman Marvin Cashman has been inducted into the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) Hall of Fame. Robert Cashman, Metro’s current President & CEO, accepted the award on his father’s behalf at the CCUA Awards of Excellence ceremony on October 12 at APEX 2023.
In the footsteps of his own father, George Cashman, Marvin joined Metro more than 60 years ago in 1957, where he served in many leadership roles including CEO, a position he held until 1998. Thereafter he continued as Chairman of the Board of Directors, stepping down in 2015 while remaining a Board member where he continued to lead and provide guidance to the Credit Union until he retired in 2021.
“It was an honor accepting this prestigious award on my father’s behalf,” said Robert Cashman. “I have admired my dad – both personally and professionally – for my entire life and I’m extremely proud and grateful that he has been recognized for his tremendous accomplishments and contributions to both Metro and the credit union industry as a whole.”
