Strengthening Our Neighborhoods: Metro Credit Union Foundation Awards $50K in Grants to Local Nonprofits Driving Community Impact
CHELSEA, MA — December 22, 2025 — Metro Credit Union, the largest state-chartered credit union in Massachusetts, today announced the second round of 2025 grant recipients through the Metro Credit Union Foundation. A total of $50,000 has been awarded to five local nonprofit organizations delivering programs that focus on community development initiatives, safe and affordable housing, and financial education.
Since its launch in 2023, the Metro Credit Union Foundation has awarded $308,000 in grants to organizations across Massachusetts, reinforcing Metro’s commitment to creating financially resilient communities.
“Financial empowerment is the foundation for vibrant communities,” said Robert Cashman, President and CEO of Metro Credit Union. “By partnering with organizations that drive real impact through these grants, we’re creating pathways for families to gain the skills they need for long-term success.”
The Metro Credit Union Foundation awards grants twice a year to nonprofit organizations whose initiatives advance:
- Community Development: creating vibrant and equitable neighborhoods
- Safe & Affordable Housing: providing opportunities for affordable housing and homeownership with down-payment assistance and homebuyer education programs
Financial Wellness & Advancement: promoting financial competency by providing knowledge and skills
