Metro Credit Union Sponsors Celebrate Literacy Day
CHELSEA, MA, March 11, 2021 – Metro Credit Union, Massachusetts’ largest state-chartered credit union, is pleased to present Celebrate Literacy Day taking place on Thursday, March 18 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. (EST). In its 10th year, Celebrate Literacy Day was founded to create awareness about literacy and education while also highlighting the important work of grassroot nonprofit organizations and community leaders in Lynn, MA.
“At Metro, we believe strongly in providing educational access to the communities we serve,” said Robert Cashman, CEO and president. “We are proud to support Celebrate Literacy Day for the 10th consecutive year and stand firmly behind its mission.”
Each year, the Celebrate Literacy Day committee selects a local nonprofit organization and two community leaders to honor and celebrate at the event. These honorees demonstrate an excellence in literacy by going above and beyond to elevate, improve, promote, and increase access to literacy and higher education opportunities for members of the community. Each honoree receives the Excellence in Literacy Leadership Award (ELLA) along with a monetary gift.
This year’s virtual event will serve as a kickoff for the 10th annual gala, which will take place in September at the Lynn Museum.
