Metro Credit Union Sees Continued Success Of Universal Program Model
CHELSEA, MA, August 24, 2022 – Metro Credit Union, Massachusetts’ largest state-chartered credit union, has continued to see great success in employee growth and retention following the launch of their Universal Program Model in early June.
The initiative was designed to upskill Metro’s employee base and propel the organization forward, while simultaneously enhancing the member experience. All incoming Retail Branch and Member Service Center employees earn a starting annualized compensation of at least $50,000, with opportunity for additional compensation through Metro’s competitive bonus programs. Existing employees are also eligible for the program and Metro received over 100 applicants upon launch.
The implementation of the Universal Program Model included development of a new role. Metro’s new Universal Service Specialists (USS) are “float” employees whose role is designated to assist in various areas of the Credit Union as needed, mastering multiple skills as part of their primary job function. USS employees earn an annualized compensation of at least $55,000 and can earn additional compensation through existing bonus programs at Metro.
The eight employees joining Metro as Universal Service Specialists are Dennis Guerrero, Gabriela Rodriguez, Isaiah Beverly, Michael Creese, Shaqora Wallace, Shawna McGaffigan, Talu Mwangombe, and Ynelda Decossa.
Beyond the introduction of the Universal Service Specialist role, three existing roles at Metro were revised to better reflect the way the roles impact the entire credit union, rather than specific department or branch locations. They include Sales Service Representative, Sales Service Agent, and Sales Service Supervisor.
“Metro is committed to consistently evaluating the ways in which we operate our credit union, and how to better serve our members and employees” said Robert Cashman, President and CEO of Metro Credit Union. “These new changes to our employee model increase employee morale and retention, making for an even better member experience.”
