Jose Martinez Appointed AVP Project Manager III; Selected as Credit Union Rising Star
Metro Credit Union is pleased to announce that Jose Martinez has been appointed AVP Project Manager III. Martinez was also named a Credit Union Rising Star by the Cooperative Credit Union Association. The award recognizes the brightest and the most vibrant young credit union employees in the region. The winners not only excel in the industry, but also have the most potential to make a mark in the future.
Martinez joined Metro Credit Union in 1997 as a Service Associate recommended by Chelsea High School. Over the course of the first six years of his career, Jose was promoted several times, eventually serving as the Assistant Branch Manager of the Main Office location. In 2003, Jose transferred to Metro’s Technology department as a PC Support Specialist. Again, he proved his capability and capacity for learning, advancing into a position as an Application Support Specialist supporting the Credit Union’s departments and their use of complex technologies. In 2013, he was promoted to the role of Business Analyst.
In 2015, Jose was selected as one of three Project Managers to grow out the concept of a Project Management Office at Metro. As the Credit Union’s Technology Project Manager, he has proven he is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure successful outcomes for the Credit Union’s initiatives and he gets results. With this promotion to AVP Senior Project Manager III, he serves as a mentor and subject matter expert to his peers. Jose has obtained multiple professional certifications, including Certified Associate in Project Management, Project Management Professional, and ITIL Foundations and Practitioner.Traci Michel, SVP Operations stated “Jose is a tireless contributor, and he is always suggesting ways to do things better or more efficiently. He is often called on to manage our most complex technical projects, yet he understands and relates to the front line and keeps Metro’s membership front and center. This unique skill set makes him a tremendous asset to Metro.”
