CHELSEA, Mass. (March 23, 2017) – Metro Credit Union in conjunction with the Newmarket Business Association hosted the annual “Make It Your Business” networking reception on Thursday March, 23rd at Metro’s Massachusetts Avenue branch. This is the fourth year Metro has hosted and sponsored.

Casa Myrna is Boston's leading provider of domestic violence intervention, awareness and prevention efforts. The Make It Your Business Leadership Reception engages business leaders with Casa Myrna, educates them about ways to support employees who may experience domestic violence, and helps them prevent domestic violence in the workplace and broader community. For the past four years this event has welcome more than 400 hundred businesses, philanthropic and government leaders from the greater Boston area. The Corporate Engagement Award of Excellence was presented to Shelagh E. Mahoney of Eastern Salt Company. The Civic Engagement Award of Excellence was presented to Jose Masso of Massport and Sue Sullivan of the Newmarket Business Association.

In addition to hosting the event, Metro Credit Union made a $2,000 corporate contribution to Casa Myrna. Charlene Bauer, SVP of Marketing of Metro Credit Union, was pleased to personally deliver the donation, stating “We applaud the work performed by Casa Myrna and celebrate Boston’s business and community leaders for their contributions to the movement to end domestic violence.”

The event was spearheaded by Saritin Rizzuto, AVP of Community Relations at Metro Credit Union. Rizzuto has served on Casa Myrna’s Board of Directors and is deeply committed to domestic violence services, education and prevention. Rizzuto is a leader in numerous nonprofit and civic organizations.
