Metro Credit Union Completes Merger with Newton Teachers Credit Union

CHELSEA, MA (April 1, 2016) – Metro Credit Union, Massachusetts’ largest state-chartered credit union, today announced it has completed its merger with the Newton Teachers Credit Union.

“We are pleased to welcome the Newton Teachers Credit Union members to Metro Credit Union,” stated Robert M. Cashman, President and CEO of Metro Credit Union. “The merger will give Newton Teachers members access to more mortgage and lending options, broader banking product lines and 15 branch locations to choose from in Central and Eastern Massachusetts.”

Effective immediately, converted members will begin to enjoy the benefits of such products as Metro Credit Union’s My Reward Checking account, which last year gave back over $2.0 million in purchase rewards and rebates on the high ATM fees charged by other banks.

“Our newest members will quickly discover the secret our existing members have known for years: that Metro Credit Union’s products, services and rates are highly competitive and better than most,” added Cashman. “We are a locally run institution, owned by the members we work hard for every day, and who will always be our first priority.”
