Metro Credit Union, the largest state-chartered credit union in Massachusetts, announced that it has awarded $7,000 in scholarships to Chelsea and Peabody High School students. Each year Metro awards scholarships to graduating seniors who have taken the Banking Practicum, a financial literacy and retail banking internship, which runs a full school year.

Scholarship recipients were Vanessa DeLeon, Jay Pedrero, Dominic Hightower, Ricky Villatoro, Gianni Farese, Adrian Rodriguez, Jenna Provencher and Kayla Rosa.

Robert Cashman, President and CEO of Metro Credit Union commented, “Metro has a long-standing history of service to local communities and these scholarship awards directly support our high school graduates.” Cashman added, “I am very proud of these students as they personify the credit union difference. I want to be the first to congratulate all of Metro’s Banking Practicum students on their hard work and dedication throughout the school year and for their efforts at the annual Massachusetts School Bank Association competition.”

Peabody High School students placed first in the Product Development and Marketing competitions at the 2015 Massachusetts School Bank Association.
