METRO SPONSORS EL MUNDO HISPANIC HERITAGE BREAKFAST HONORING JORGE QUIROGA FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT


Chelsea, MA (October 9, 2015) Metro Credit Union, Massachusetts’ largest chartered credit union, joined local elected officials and other community leaders  on Friday, October 9th  in celebration of the 6th Annual El Mundo Hispanic Heritage Breakfast honoring local media legend, Jorge Quiroga.

The sold out event was the largest to date and featured 400 of the region’s most influential leaders including
Governor Baker and Mayor Walsh among others. Jorge Quiroga, was honored with a lifetime achievement award for his illustrious career as a WCVB-TV personality and reporter, which has spanned over four decades.

“Events such as this reinforce the social fabric of our community,” said Keith Pequeno, Chief Marketing Officer for Metro Credit Union.  He continued, “Diverse residents, business owners, neighborhood organizations and institutions alike are what ultimately make up the multifaceted fabric of the neighborhoods of Boston and continue to enrich this great city.”
 
For the sixth consecutive year – the event – which is part ceremony and part comic roast, is held in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.  This year’s event was held at the Revere Hotel in Boston, however organizers are seeking larger venues for 2016 as the event continues to sell out.  Past honorees include Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Boston Marathon bombing hero Carlos Arredondo.
