Metro's Michael Jordan Named Credit Union Rock Star by Credit Union Magazine

Chelsea, Mass. (October 16, 2014) – Metro Credit Union’s Michael Jordan, Vice President, Branch Administrator and Security Officer, has been named one of Credit Union Magazine’s Credit Union Rock Stars. According to Credit Union Magazine, these rock stars demonstrate innovation and creativity in their chosen fields – and by doing so have made the credit union movement a better, more interesting place.

Jordan began his career at Metro Credit Union in 2005 as a Branch Manager and has had an impressive career at Metro since then. Jordan has been instrumental in moving the credit union toward technology advances that the members want and need. From the introduction of mobile and remote deposit to the rollout of Wi-Fi in all of Metro's locations, Jordan was there to see it through. “I want people to walk into our credit union and immediately know we are technology savvy,” says Jordan. “People expect it, and that’s going to be important to the new generation of credit union members.”

Metro President and CEO, Robert Cashman, says “Michael’s dedication to the credit union movement and to this institution are unmatched. Michael infuses an energy towards advancing technology and member service that is contagious, making him a great asset to Metro. It comes as no surprise that he was named a Credit Union Rock Star.”

In addition to earning his Master’s degree in Leadership from Northeastern University, Jordan served as Class President at the CUNA Management School graduating with honors and separately earning the Certified Credit Union Executive designation from CUNA. Jordan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Bank Management from Bentley University and Call Center Certification from Purdue University.

As a longtime member of the Everett Rotary Club, Jordan is the current President, a position he’s held twice before. He is a member of the Everett Chamber of Commerce. Jordan is also the Treasurer of the Massachusetts School Bank Association, an organization that provides students the opportunity to get hands on experience in the financial world. He has been a volunteer for ‘Everybody Wins!’, a national literacy and mentoring organization, for the past 4 years.

Jordan is the only Massachusetts recipient of this year’s award and was previously named a Credit Union Rising Star by Banker & Tradesman in 2012.
