Metro Hosts "Make It Your Business" Networking Reception

Event Showcased Local Efforts to Create Domestic Violence Awareness

CHELSEA, Mass. (April 25, 2014) - Metro Credit Union, the largest state-chartered credit union in Massachusetts in conjunction with the Newmarket Business Association and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted the first annual “Make It Your Business” networking reception, Thursday April 24, 2014 at Metro’s Massachusetts Avenue branch location.

The event, held at 1071 Massachusetts Avenue, showcased local efforts to create awareness about domestic violence and its impact on local businesses and the community at large. Featured speakers included Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh; Wendy Murphy, attorney and author of “And Justice for Some;” and Stephanie Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Casa Myrna. All event proceeds benefited Casa Myrna, Boston’s leading nonprofit delivering solutions to end domestic and dating violence.

The event was spearheaded by Saritin Rizzuto, Community Relations & Business Development Officer at Metro Credit Union. Rizzuto has served on Casa Myrna’s Board of Directors for five years and is deeply committed to domestic violence services, education and prevention. Rizzuto is a leader in nonprofit and civic organizations. In addition to Casa Myrna, she serves on the Boards of North Suffolk Mental Health, the East Boston Social Center the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, and Bunker Hill Community College’s Adult Education Advisory Board. Rizzuto is also a Past President of the Chelsea Rotary Club, where she is currently organizing Latino businesses to join and have a voice in the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to hosting the event, Metro Credit Union made a $1,000 corporate contribution to Casa Myrna. Robert M. Cashman, president and CEO of Metro Credit Union, was pleased to personally deliver the donation, stating “Metro Credit Union is founded on the principal of people helping people, and we are proud to support this deserving organization.”
