Metro Credit Union Continues Thanksgiving Tradition - Donates to Haven From Hunger

Chelsea, Mass. (November 21, 2014) – Metro Credit Union, the Commonwealth’s largest state-chartered credit union donated 26 Thanksgiving baskets and $1000 to Haven From Hunger in Peabody, MA.

Annually Metro Credit Union selects a charitable organization that identifies families in need of Thanksgiving Day food and supplies. Metro Credit Union employees assembled, decorated and delivered the baskets to Haven From Hunger.

"Each year the Thanksgiving Basket tradition grows in size and enthusiasm. We are committed to our local communities and it’s just one of the ways Metro likes to help families during the holidays," said Charlene Bauer, SVP of Community & Business Development.

"We’re aiming to feed 1500 families each week and November is one of the busiest times of the year. The Thanksgiving Baskets and donation from Metro are instrumental to helping us achieve our goal to feed as many families as possible,” said Alyse Barbash, Director at Haven From Hunger.

Each Metro department and branch location contributed items to create dozens of baskets filled with traditional Thanksgiving staples like stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, and desserts, as well as a gift certificate for a turkey from Metro Credit Union.
