Michael Jordan Named 2012 Credit Union Rising Star

Chelsea, Mass. (May 1, 2012) – Metro Credit Union, which is  poised to become the Commonwealth's largest state-chartered credit union,  announced Michael Jordan of Metro Credit Union has been named a Credit Union  Rising Star by the Massachusetts Credit Union League, Credit Union Association  of Rhode Island, New Hampshire Credit Union League and The Warren Group. The  inaugural Credit Union Rising Stars award recognized the brightest and most  vibrant young credit union employees in the region. The winners not only excel  in the industry, but also have the most potential to make a mark in the  future.

Jordan began his career at Metro CU as the Branch  Manager of the Peabody Branch in 2005 and has had an impressive career  progression since then.  A few months after joining Metro,  Jordan was assigned  the additional responsibility of opening a branch at Peabody High School and a  year later, was promoted to the position of manager of the Main Office, located  in Chelsea.  Several promotions later, Jordan took on the position of Vice  President, Branch Administration, which he currently holds.  While advancing his  career at Metro CU, he earned his Master’s Degree in Leadership from  Northeastern University.

Jordan is actively involved in community and service  organizations.  He is a member of Rotary and is beginning his second year as  President of the Everett Rotary Club.  He is also a member of the Everett  Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer of the Mass School Banking Association, and has  been a volunteer for the Everybody Wins! national literacy and mentoring  organization for the past 4 years.  Jordan also is a dedicated supporter of the  North Shore Medical Center’s Annual “Cancer WALK”, having participated by  walking and raising funds for 14 years in honor of his mother, father, and  grandmother.

Jordan received the award at the Credit Union Rising  Stars Awards Breakfast before the annual Great New England Credit Union Show. At the breakfast in Boxborough, Mass., keynote speaker and Olympic Gold Medalist  Tim Daggett, gave a speech proving how determination and perseverance can lead  to extraordinary accomplishments.

Presented by the Massachusetts Credit Union League, Credit  Union Association of Rhode Island, New Hampshire Credit Union League and The  Warren Group, the Credit Union Rising Stars were chosen by an independent panel  in the financial services industry. To be eligible, an individual must work in a  member credit union in Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Rhode Island, be under  the age of 40 as of last birthday, be an outstanding employee, manager, or  business leader and make a notable impact on their credit union or within the  industry.
