Metro Credit Union Awards Financial Literacy Scholarship

Peabody Veterans Memorial High School senior receives $1,000


Chelsea, MA – June 15, 2009 – Metro Credit Union president and CEO Robert Cashman announced that Nicole Lorden, a Peabody Veterans Memorial High School (PVMHS) senior, has been awarded the 2009 Financial Literacy Scholarship from Metro Credit Union in the amount of $1,000.

The Financial Literacy Scholarship is designed to honor a student who showed exemplary skills during their coursework in Finance and Business and during their internship at Metro Credit Union’s PVMHS branch. 2009 marks the fourth year at PVMHS that Metro has offered this unique opportunity for students to learn more about the world of finance and gain hands on experience at one of the state’s largest credit unions.  Metro Credit Union also sponsors a full-service branch in Chelsea High School in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

“Metro is pleased to award this scholarship to Ms. Nicole Lorden, a student who excelled in the classroom and in the branch, and who demonstrated great work ethic and enthusiasm for the program,”  said Robert M. Cashman, President and CEO.   

Ms. Lorden plans on attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City to pursue a degree in Fashion Merchandising Management. She is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in a number of extracurricular clubs and community service.
