Metro Walks for Charity

CHELSEA, MA – October 19, 2010 –   As part of an ongoing effort to give back to the community and support important causes, employees of Metro Credit Union recently participated in the ALS & MS Walk for Living and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
The 2011 Walk for Living took place on September 25th and benefitted the ALS-MS Residences at the Leonard Florence Center for Living, a part of Chelsea Jewish Foundation.  The annual event helps raise awareness of ALS and MS, while funding programs and operations of these critical residences.  Team Metro was able to raise over $1,000 for this worthy cause.
Also a loyal supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Metro Credit Union participated in the annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Metro employees, friends, and family members joined the “Alyssa’s All-Stars” team for a 3 mile walk around the Esplanade in Boston on October 1st. Thanks to their fundraising efforts, this year the team of “Alyssa’s All-Stars” was able to raise over $22,000. Metro has participated in the walk for several years, and to date has helped “Alyssa’s All-Stars” raise over $275,000 in the fight against juvenile diabetes.

“The ongoing fundraising efforts and generous commitment of our employees provide for continued research, with the hope that one day there will be a cure,” said Robert M. Cashman, President and CEO of Metro.
