Metro Credit Union Honored for Social Responsibility

Metro receives Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action

 

CHELSEA, MA – November 2, 2009 - Massachusetts Credit Union League recently awarded Metro Credit Union First Place in the state level competition of the Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action.

The Louise Herring Award is part of the Massachusetts Credit Union League's Social Responsibility Recognition Program for Credit Unions. Beginning in 1990, the Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action has commended credit unions that make exceptional efforts to include credit union philosophy in their daily operations and member service. As a recipient of the state level award, Metro will advance to the national level competition. 

Metro was recognized for the Real Solutions Resource Fair hosted at their branch located at 365 Broadway, Chelsea, MA. Metro coordinated the event which was free and open to the public, and brought together many non-profit organizations that provided information on topics such as Public Assistance, Mass Health, Fuel Assistance, Housing, ITINs, credit reporting, basic banking, and more. Representatives from CAPIC, Chelsea Neighborhood Developers, The Chelsea Collaborative, Department of Transitional Assistance, WIC and Metro were on hand for the consumer resource fair. 

Metro was presented the Louise Herring Award at the recent meeting of the Tri-County Chapter of the Massachusetts Credit Union League.
