Metro Credit Union Announces the "Four Downs for Finance" Essay Contest

New England Patriot Dan Koppen will visit winner’s school.


CHELSEA, MA – September 15, 2009 - Metro Credit Union has teamed up with the Office of State Treasurer Timothy Cahill and 98.5 The Sports Hub to announce the Four Downs for Finance essay contest.  Students in grades K-12 are encouraged to complete an essay about the importance of saving money and submit it at the Metro Credit Union website:

Each week three winning essays will be selected and announced during the New England Patriots Radio broadcast on 98.5 The Sports Hub.  The weekly winners will receive a limited edition autographed photo of New England offensive lineman, Dan Koppen.  Three finalists will be chosen from the group of weekly winners and will have the opportunity to see New England play in Foxboro.  The second and third prize winners will receive $250 SMART savings accounts from Metro Credit Union.  The Grand Prize winner will receive a $500 SMART savings account from Metro Credit Union and a visit to their school by Dan Koppen.

Cashman, CEO and president of Metro Credit Union.  “The Four Downs for Finance program, developed by the Treasury’s Financial Education Department, is a great teaching tool that makes learning about saving fun.  We are delighted to partner with the State Treasurer’s Office on this financial literacy initiative.”
