Peabody Students place first in state-wide Banking Bowl

High School students represent Metro Credit Union in annual competition

Chelsea, MA – May 24, 2010 – Students from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School representing Metro Credit Union earned the first place award in the Marketing Competition at the recent Massachusetts School Bank Association Spring Conference. Student teams from 25 financial institutions competed at the Spring Conference which was held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. The Peabody team also received the second place award in the Product Development Competition, and third place in the Banking Trivia Competition.

The annual MSBA Conference features a competition at which student representatives, hosted by partnering banks and credit unions, compete on such topics as credit, banking trivia, marketing, and the Federal Reserve System. Metro Credit Union sponsors full-service branches in the Chelsea High School and the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. The Chelsea High School team participated in the Competition as well.

"It was a great day for the students and we are very proud of their achievements," stated Robert M. Cashman, President and CEO of Metro. "Metro's in-school banking program is a unique opportunity for us to reach out to students in the community and provide a hands-on banking experience. We hope this will spark an interest in pursuing a career in financial services after the students graduate," Mr. Cashman added.
