Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP)

If you are current with your mortgage payments but have been unable to get traditional refinancing because the value of your home has declined, you may be able to refinance through the federal government’s Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP).

Benefits of refinancing through HARP:

•  You may qualify for a loan even if your home has declined in value
•  You can lower your monthly payment
If you currently have an adjustable rate mortgage, you’ll be able to change to a fixed rate loan

You may be eligible to refinance under the HARP if:

Your mortgage is owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac

To find out if your loan is owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, call or visit the web sites below:
Fannie Mae: 1-800-7-FANNIE (8am – 8pm EST)
Freddie Mac: 1-800-FREDDIE (8am – 8pm EST)

•  Your mortgage was sold to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac on or before 05/31/2009
Your mortgage has not been refinanced under HARP previously unless it is a Fannie Mae loan that was refinanced under HARP from March through May 2009
•  The current loan-to-value (LTV) ratio must be greater than 80%
•  You are current on your mortgage payment at the time of refinance, with a good payment history in the past 12 months
